Endgame by William Reed is a fiction story. The main character in this novel is a man named Nathaniel Jameson. He is married to Sonja, and they have two kids, Tanya and Gregory. Nat woke up unexpectedly early in the morning with the idea that he believed, if put into action, would end world terrorism. The US ambassador in London was the first person Nat spoke to about his vision. The ambassador offered to talk to the president and vice president for the plan’s approval. On the other hand, Nat has to seek consent from his wife. Nat, too, is not entirely convinced that the project will work out. Fearing to endanger his family, he decides to abandon the plan. Later suicide bombing happens at the zoo, destroying the lives of innocent people. Seeing how many innocent people were injured and some died, he decided to execute his plan to end this unnecessary attack on innocent people. Will his plan work out? Read the book to find out.

I liked reading the book despite the lengthy pages. What I liked most about this was the author’s deep research before writing this novel. I mostly appreciate him for that. I learned a lot about what fuels the conflict between Israel and Palestine. I also learned that the terrorist group al-Qaeda is related to al-Shabaab. Coming from a country that al-Shabaab always attacks, I never knew why they continuously do this. I am tired of seeing innocent people lose their lives due to terrorism. I wish something could be done to end this craziness. I appreciated the relationship between Nat and Sonja. They believed in and trusted each other. I liked the relationship between Nat and his children. Nat is portrayed as a man who listens to his children even when they say silly things. I applaud the author for the vivid description of the scenery.

Even though I liked the novel, I still felt it needed to be more thrilling. The author should have given fewer details about Nat’s plan to create suspense. The characters could have been better developed, mainly the antagonist.

I found only one spelling mistake. Though that is not enough reason to deduct a point, I will still deduct a point because the plot was not well-developed. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Due to themes of violence and the use of curse words, I don’t recommend this book to younger readers. I recommend this book to people who like crime novels.
