Review of The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci
Not until she started to see visions had Angela Renatus been oblivious to the existence of a painting done by the renowned artist, Leonardo Da Vinci. She interns at Getty, and Scordato, the director of Getty, has been assaulting her. He wants the painting at all costs. She meets Caine, who is also set to unravel the mystery of the painting, and they team up. Who would get their hands on the painting first? Angela and Caine, or Scordato? Belle Ami's The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci is filled with intriguing actions.
One of the great things about this book is the uncertainty of the events, which kept me intrigued. I kept envisioning how events were going to turn out as I took the side of Angela and Caine. I felt disdain for Scordato, who is after the painting, as well as Caine and Angela, because he hires Alberto, who is his cousin, to kill both Caine and Angela. I kept praying for their safety. This is one of the most captivating parts of reading the book.
I loved the historical part and the flashbacks to the Second World War. The description of the happenings of the time stimulated and piqued my imagination, and the author did a great job in his description.
Also, I enjoyed reading about Angela's ability to communicate with the dead and her ability to see events from the past. These gifts she possessed were very beneficial in moving the plot of the story forward.
The author had great abilities switching between three different time frames. I admired how artistically and skillfully this was carried out.
I liked reading about the friendship triangle between Leonardo da Vinci, Fioretta Gorini, and Giuliano.
The only fallback about the book which I encountered, was that Angela Renatus spoke some Italian, which I did not understand, and English translations for it were not provided.
In The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci by Belle Ami, I found only two minor errors, which implies that it went through professional editing. I rate it five out of five stars.
A mature audience who loves historical fiction and mystery stories will enjoy this book by Belle Ami.
