Nathaniel Jameson. Father, chief of mission, ambassador, and mastermind behind an ingenious plan. While working at the embassy, Nat is fed up with the constant terrorist attacks on people. Innocent people. Some might say that it was pure and random luck that brought the idea to him, while others might argue that it was divine intervention. Whatever the source, the inarguable fact is that the idea was brilliant. Crazy, terrifying, unimaginable—some might say absurd—but brilliant all the same. What was the plan? Well, all I will reveal for now is the name. Operation Endgame.

Al-Qaeda is wreaking havoc in the world. After the killing of Osama bin Laden, they are more vengeful, more strategic, and more dangerous. They believe that their cause is righteous and are ready to eliminate anyone who gets in their way. With their resources, intelligence, and ‘dead’ leaders, they are on course to destroy thousands, if not millions, of lives. Conspiracy is the name of the game. Russians conspiring with Iranians conspiring with Al-Qaeda conspiring to bring Israel to her knees.

Events fall into place with such precision that it inclines some to believe that a divine force is really involved. A zoo bombing inclines Sonja, Nat’s wife, to accept her husband’s unorthodox idea. A long friendship with Imam Badawi creates a link that is crucial to the plan. Jordanian in-laws and a vet father who overdosed on heroine create a background that paves the way for an unquestionable motive, which is vital to the plan. Open-minded bosses and Oscar-worthy performances go a long way in deception, which is what the whole plan is based on. Interesting huh?

William Reed proves to be vastly informed on current affairs, history, and world politics in general. He articulates in detail scrupulously researched material consisting of facts ranging from the first world war, the Russian-Afghan conflict, the Israeli six-day war, Saddam, and the weapons of mass destruction, just to mention a few. The flawless plot is impeccable. The captivating storyline is flawless. The enviable description of events is captivating. The unforgettable cast of characters is enviable. The professional editing of the book is proof of commitment and passion on the author’s part. Kudos!

Nat’s habit of thinking one thing and saying another, combined with his mental approximation of people’s age and height, wasn’t pleasant.

Hands down, this is one of the most educational, informative, and interesting books I have come across. I highly recommend it to every reader out there, mostly to fans of history, politics, and the good guys winning. With that in mind, I rate the novel 5 out of 5 stars.
