The book starts with Senior Investigative Officer Jay Magruder of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Who is driven by boredom to review cold case files. The September 2020 death of John Riley Logan and his wife caught Magruder's attention.

The case was swiftly deemed a murder/suicide but Magruder isn't buying it. He takes his concerns to his superior officer, who gives him the green light to pursue the case. A witness quickly comes forward and at this point we are taken into a look at John Riley Logan and his life.

This is a debut novel by D.C.Scott, who delves far back into John's life and takes us step by step. He tends to unnecessarily explain things and includes so many needless details that took away from the story rather than adding to it. The book is well edited, with very few, very small errors, and I gave it three out of five stars because of the good editing. The fact that the writer has put alot of heart and thought into his characters, and their back story. As well as that it has a good story line.

Points were lost because of the writer's tendancy to pile on needless information, and he also went on and on about certain things and certain relationships to the point of exasperation. The end of the book reveals the truth behind the Logan's demise and more, as D.C. Scott tries to entice us into reading the sequel.
