I was drawn into this book from the prologue because of the characters, art, history and mystery. The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci is a mystical journey through history and past danger. Angela has been having nightmares and blackouts that plague her both night and day. She is following her dreams after college and working in a prestigious museum. Everything would be perfect if it wasn’t for the unwanted advances from her boss. Alex is an art investigator currently on the job for a wealthy German man searching for an alleged Leonardo da Vinci painting. Alex hires Angela to help him track down the painting. At first it is because of her expertise in renaissance art and a great recommendation of her knowledge, but he soon learns how necessary she is to complete his investigation. They are up against familiar faces of greed that try to take anything they can which leads their mission is dangerous territory.

The romance was one of the positives in my opinion. Alex is a perfect knight in shining armor and it shows with his care and concern for Angela. Their relationship budded in the present and took them to the past in order to make it to the future. Some scenes were very steamy and this book should be enjoyed by mature readers. I also really enjoyed the addition of Italian words and phrases that helped to make the story more authentic. The culture and religious aspects were true to the time.

One of the only negatives in my opinion would be the way Angela can make a decision in one paragraph and then her actions on the next page go against the decision she just made. This is a realistic personality trait in my opinion and I do understand her reasons, it still seems like it happens to fast. The other negative would be that they both tend to distract each other with intimacy too often. It would be hard to find many more negatives, the editors did a great job with grammar and spelling.

I would give this novel a 4 out of 5 stars. Belle Ami wrote a beautiful novel that showed a passion for art, culture and history that I could feel through her words. The majority of the book takes place throughout Italy and the descriptions truly immerse the reader. I enjoyed the love and lust surrounding the couples in the present and the past. Leonardo da Vinci’s character was written as the friend everyone wants. This story was about the preservation of art that can immortalize love and friendship.

I would recommend this book to any adult who loves romance, history or art. So many moments in this book had me smiling and cheering for the epic love story. It is told by multiple points of view which builds the suspense throughout the novel. The element of diving into scenes from history gives Belle Ami the ability to add amazing characters. The use of historically significant people adds intrigue and gave me the chance to imagine these people in a more personal way which should appeal to a large adult audience.
