Review of East Wind, 2nd Edition
Another suspenseful book in the Lara and Uri series is East Wind, 2nd Edition. In his early forties, Uri functioned as a Mossad agent. He linked the murders of young school children to his childhood friend Hakim; he and a few of his agents then pursued Hakim and left a message for the notorious terrorist organization known as Hezbollah. At the scene of the operation, he discovered some papers but didn't understand the writings except the word "opera." His bosses began to investigate the meaning of this word. The code was broken by CIA special agent Lara, who revealed the truth about opera. Unknown to them, the Hezbollah organization has a well-laid plot to conduct explosions and commit mass murders of Americans. The first bombing took place in Marina. Five days were given to Lara and Uri to find the plotters and put an end to similar incidents in the future. Read the book to discover how Lara and Uri handled this mind-blowing task and also find out who is behind the Hezbollah organization.
I was absorbed as I read about the fascinating events that took place in this book. The author talked about the men in the active-duty military who volunteered themselves and risked their lives to defend us from evildoers who pose a threat to our existence. I truly enjoyed the plot from start to finish. The author skillfully interweaves suspense and action together. I enjoyed the way the author opened the narrative. From the very first chapter, he began to show the readers how horrible and inhuman the terrorists are. It is horrible to witness how Ed was brutally murdered, leaving his wife and children without a father and a husband. My heart was broken by the murder of innocent children, and I began to wonder if those responsible would indeed receive 82 thousand servants and 72 virgins in paradise for their actions. God can't possibly be pleased with this because he is not a killer of innocent souls.
Even though the novel is fiction, Jack Winnick's thorough descriptions of the incidents make the events feel real. The book explains how terrorist sects enlist young, intelligent people into their organizations and then dispatch them into the world to carry out acts of jihad after successfully penetrating their brains. Two examples are Walid and Hossain. I wondered what these bright young brains could have done with their knowledge and what kind of people they may have become if they hadn't been snatched up by the notorious group.
In the book, my favorites are Lara and Uri. I adore how well they got along and collaborated. They were mostly helped by the fact that they were honest with themselves and professional in their interactions. The only thing I dislike about this book is the numerous graphic images of violence. If the author hadn't been so thorough in describing the specifics of the killings, I would have adored it.
There were no errors in the book because of the excellent editing. Due to the clear language used in writing it, it was simple to read. My dislike above does not warrant deducting a star. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. Adults, teenagers, and fans of fiction with lots of action should all read this book, in my opinion. Those who enjoy well-written books and those who are fans of Lara and Uri series won't be let down by this series.
