Review of East Wind, 2nd Edition
East Wind, 2nd edition by Jack Winnick, is a crime, thriller, and action novel about the United States and Israel banding together to combat terrorism in the Middle East and Asia. This is the first book in the Lara and Uri series. I also get to see how these two characters' romantic relationships began.
Uri Levin, a fierce field agent, and Lara Edmond, a cybercrime expert, play pivotal roles in the plot. Uri works for the Israeli spy agency Mossad, while Lara works for the FBI in the United States. In the United States, the two agencies collaborate to prevent a terrorist attack. Uri has shared some relevant information and experiences that may be useful in the fight against terrorists. On the other hand, we can see the antagonists' backgrounds and motivations for carrying out this attack. The influence of their leader Nasrallah on them, as well as the beginnings of a long plan to build a nuclear bomb in the country itself and blackmail the US into choosing Palestine over Israel or face a variety of consequences. The first bomb does not detonate, but while these two agents were still trying to figure out what was going on, they heard on the news that the second bomb detonated in the Marina del Rey district on the west side of Los Angeles, resulting in multiple fatalities. The safety of Israel and the United States is dependent on the actions of these two dedicated agents.
To begin with, the book is exciting, and the romantic relationship between Lara and Uri is anticipated. The book's narrative structure and third-person perspective made the dialogue very engaging. The author's narrative structure for this book's action scenes is impressive. I get to see how the protagonists work to counteract the antagonists' evil actions. It did expose the setting and spice up the suspense in this book. Another aspect of this book that I enjoyed was the character development. The author revealed Lara and Uri's family history, which piqued my interest in their romantic relationship. Every scene in this book made me care more about the protagonists. This book exposed the cultures of the Middle East and provided insights into how political decisions are made between different divisions of organizations. It did, indeed, make me politically wise. This book contained no grammatical errors. It's exceptionally well-edited.
The only drawback is that the chapters were not titled. I expected it to be a crime and action novel with subtitles that any reader who sees what the plot points of each chapter cover could understand. The dates provided in the headings of each chapter stopped halfway, so I lost track of when the mission ended.
This book's first series was delivered perfectly, so I'm rating it 5 out of 5 stars. I can't wait to read the second series to catch up on all the thrilling and romantic scenes that occurred. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy thrillers, action, and a dash of romance.
