If you're looking for a 'BANG!' of a story, East Wind by author Jack Winnick is for you. The book encapsulates you into a scenario that you never thought could happen: a nuclear bomb detonating on U.S. soil. Through the eyes of heroes and villains, you are propelled around the world and through history as the author builds not only the characters' personal stories but also collects the pieces necessary to build a nuclear bomb.

Leaving behind a trail of bodies, Mossad agent Uri stumbles across seemingly random information until it reaches FBI intelligence agent Lara, who utilizes state-of-the-art technology to crack through the first layer of a terrorist communication website. The jihadists have been brainwashed to complete their tasks and sacrifice their lives, if need be, for "eternal glory" in the afterlife. Meanwhile, our government agencies are competing for the glory of the moment. If a nuclear device has already successfully detonated on U.S. soil, what's to say the jihadists won't be successful in starting their war and eliminating the unfaithful?

East Wind is an incredible book that will keep you on the edge of your seat with its fast-paced and thrilling plot. The scenario it presents is both unique and impactful, leading to a thought-provoking exploration of the consequences of political and ideological motivations. The characters in the book are well-developed and diverse, showcasing the complexity of their motivations.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading East Wind as I found no negative aspects. The writing style was mature and effectively built the scene and conveyed emotions, immersing me in the story. However, I acknowledge that the book's focus on a catastrophic event, profanity, sexual scenes, and violence may be unsettling or triggering for some readers. The portrayal of jihadists and their beliefs could also be considered offensive or insensitive by some. These are important considerations to keep in mind when choosing to read this book.

I rate East Wind a 5 out of 5 stars. This book was an absolutely fantastic read. The subject matter of terrorism can definitely be considered serious, but normally there is only one point of view from the western world looking down on Middle Eastern people, whether they are terrorists or not. As someone who has studied terrorism, I thoroughly enjoyed how the author painted the lives of the terrorists and took the time to build these characters, showing just how meticulous a matter it is to brainwash people.

I highly recommend East Wind to fans of political thrillers and action-adventure novels. The book expertly explores themes of terrorism, government agencies, and personal motivations, making for a captivating read. Plus, it's the first in a series, so the adventure continues.
