In the book Somebody wants to kill me. by Richard Rees, the story begins with a woman named Karen who has an inheritance and a new husband she has only known for three weeks. They move from Italy to her hometown where things start to change drastically. Karen soon has a life-threatening day while visiting a cemetery. The book takes you on a journey of every day following the initial threat. She does not know who she can trust or where she should turn. She has protection but throughout the book, you question her guards' loyalty to her. Karen soon notices that the people around her may not be trusted. What is her new husband hiding from her? Who should she trust? Who is watching?

Throughout the book, I was constantly questioning who would want to hurt Karen. Why would they want to hurt her? What would their reasoning be? Karen soon finds that there are many secrets that she does not know. This book made me think of all the situations where the truth was misled or blurred so that one person seemed better than they were. Once Karen steps back from everyone and starts to watch the people around her things start to become clear on their motives.

I enjoyed this book because it started from the beginning when she moved back home and gave the background that was needed to mentally visualize the world Karen was living in. The book was easy to follow and the story fell into place. I liked how throughout the book it continually gave clues about each person that Karen was involved with. While reading the book you see the story from the perspective of the main characters, not just one person.

What I did not like about this book was it had a slow start to the story. The details in the book become overwhelming at times because you can get lost in the most minor details and start to lose the big picture of what is happening around her. I would rate this book 3 out of 5 stars.. I chose this rating because overall the story was good, but there were many situations where the details were too much.

I would recommend this book to others that enjoy mysteries and thrillers. There are many aspects of the situation that keep you guessing who the real villain is and who she should have trusted.
