Murder in the Garbage is a book written by Jerry A. Greenberg. It was centered on an investigation of stolen military missiles from an airbase and the transport of those missiles using a garbage disposal company undercover. This theft awas also linked to the murder of the owner of the garbage disposal company, Mr. Charles Thornton, whose body was found in a garbage bin. Hank Boucher, a retired Navy Seal, and an undercover CIA agent, along with Bernie Talmadge, the leader of the investigation, Raoul Martez, the worker at the garbage disposal company who found the body of Mr. Thornton and a former gunman, Julio Vasquez, Hank’s guide through the city, Linda Bailey, the secretary at the garbage disposal company, and other FBI agents, were all part of the investigation and they came together and solved the case.

One thing I liked about the book was the writing style. I loved how Jerry used easy-to-understand words. My reading was not interrupted by frequent visits to the dictionary.

I had a lot of complaints while reading the book. I did not like the fact that there was no suspense in the book. For a crime book, I expected that there would be an element of suspense to keep us on our toes. I also did not understand how there were two “Chapter 21’s” and three “Chapter 23’s”. I could not make out if it was an error or if it was deliberate. The fact that we were not updated on Janet’s case was an issue for me. All we read was she killed Ballas and left. I felt that her ending was not meant to be that way. The grammatical errors seen in the book were also an issue. It made the reading bumpy. In my opinion, the numerous Point Of Views(POVs) were also not a necessary move. It made the reading a bit confusing.

I rate this book three out of five stars. This is because there was no suspense whatsoever, there were a lot of grammatical errors that made the reading bumpy and also, there were issues with the plot. I did not remove any more stars because, even though the book had its bad parts, Jerry was a fantastic writer. His writing style was nice and easy to understand.

I recommend this book to everyone interested in crime solving as well as to people who read suspense/mystery novels.

I am a bit skeptical about reading this book after reading this review. I hate books with bad endings. But I may just give it a try.
