THE GRAND By DENNIS D. WILSON
The Grand is a thriller novel that shines the spotlight on Dean Wister, a detective with the Midwest Organized Crime Task Force who investigates the murder of the personal assistant to a real estate agent. The crime appears to be motivated by hate or a relationship gone wrong due to the nature of the victim's life. The investigation takes readers on an interesting journey full of surprises, as the detective not only uncovers the criminal plots involved but also becomes a target of the perpetrators. The novel kicks off with the most intense erotic scene that at some point, got me thinking it is more of a romance novel. Wilson has written a book that accurately stimulates a murder investigation in a gripping format that will get the audience hooked from the very first page.

The author gives clear and distinct descriptions of every scene, starting from the surroundings to the very characters in that scene. Each chapter commences with an intriguing revelation that builds the plots from the start to the end with occasional jaw dropping surprises to spice up the work. The writing is superb, as I found very few if none, errors in the book. The writer makes the reader feel as if they are unraveling the mystery of the crime alongside Dean Wister. The plot is impossible to predict. At first,I had a hunch as to who could have killed Jordy but I was quickly proven wrong as more information provided leads that I would have never guessed. This led to an end that left me utterly shocked at the unfolding of the events.

It is difficult to identify the shortcomings of the narrative. Leads throughout the book insinuate that the murder is personal and the readers are kept on the edge of their seat trying to identify the killer. When the killer is eventually revealed, the readers feel robbed of the joy that the endless suspense brought while reading. The narrative does not have any plot holes, and every beat makes sense. I therefore have no major critiques of the book.

Overall,I give the book 4 out of 4 stars. Whenever I get the feeling of reading a crime drama, this is precisely the type of work I am interested in. It has twists that are very believable, which I prefer over the more artificial narrative. The book does an excellent job of creating drama. With the perfect combination of most aspects of life like the social aspect, economic aspect to the romantic aspect.

I would recommend this book to any lovers of the crime genre. It is a crime thriller which does not focus on any particular religious aspect. There are some graphic elements in the plots that some readers may find disturbing. Discretion is advised as profanity and sexual content are present in the work. The story is most definitely intended for a mature adult audience. Nonetheless, if this type of content appeals to you, then you are in for a treat.
