E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is a fun story with a little romance full of suspense throughout the whole book. While honeymooning on a Caribbean island, Kelly happened to stumble upon a very dangerous scheme which put her life in danger so she had to call her brother, Crusading United States Senator Michael McBride, for help. He got the CIA involved to help protect Kelly, and even sent two of his female agents, Sharon and Agatha, to help them. Kelly and her husband, CCPD cop, Sgt. Tom Turbulo, formed an alliance with the CIA agent, Steve, who’s been tracking the terrorists and made it their mission to stop the major threat that was aimed to cause significant damage to North America. All five team members had specific skills that were helpful to the team, which made them successful in stopping the threat.

The book was not fast paced or rushed, and was full of suspense, which makes you want to keep reading just to find out what happens next. The author highlighted exactly what a disaster it would be if the threat was actually successful and why it was so important for the characters to risk their lives to stop the terrorists. I liked that the story was not so predictable and cliche at all. Seeing as they were on their honeymoon, I expected it to be full of romance, but the romance was rather light and not the main focus of the book. The story was well structured, flowed smoothly and did not have any loose ends.

I thought that the second chapter was misleading, because it went into detail of what can happen if the power goes out. That would have been a great storyline, so I thought that this was a book about the power going out and would show exactly how it would negatively affect the people. It would’ve been more interesting if the terrorists did succeed. Even though I thought the book was well written, it had a few grammatical errors and the audio book had more script than the actual book.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars simply because even though it was a well written book it had a few grammatical errors which showed it needed to be better professionally edited.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in science fiction and loves suspense. It’s suitable for all ages, since it doesn’t have any graphic or inappropriate details, even though it was based on a couple on their honeymoon trying to stop some terrorists who wanted to cause severe damage to North America.
