Twisted But True by Darren Burch consists of 34 incidents from the author's experience in the police, and how each case shaped his view towards his life and his comrades. It includes cases from confusing and bizarre complaints to life-threatening face-offs. The book starts with the author's involvement in a car accident as a teenager. This accident leads him to choose 'saving lives' as his profession. Just like the car accident in the first chapter, the other cases handled by the author gave me a glimpse into the life of a police officer.

One of the stories that I enjoyed more than the others was 'Cheek-Filet'. In this case, it was hilarious to read the farce that the author created with his words around the situation he had to handle with his partner. I also liked how some stories had an undertone of darkness to their comical situations, that was pointed out by the author either at the starting or at the end of the chapter. The book was professionally edited. I came across a few grammatical errors, but they didn't deter my excitement to read the cases. I have read non-fictions that have the same framework of sharing experience of an author at a certain point of his or her life, but this book turned out to be a refreshing read for me.

In one of the first few pages of the book, the author had warned the readers about the graphic and explicit language he will be covering in the chapters. So I was already prepared to read through them with a strong mind. This aspect may have affected me if the warning was not provided by the author, but the warning helped. Thus there was nothing negative about the book. I wholeheartedly liked the book.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. This book was a good read for me, and it was precisely written with ample description about the scenarios, about the brotherhood among the police force, and their feeling of serving the society and tending to their family in a balanced manner. The book was indulging and interesting. It was impressive how the author worded the scenarios from his perspective.

I would recommend this book for readers of age of 18 and above. Also, the readers who can't handle sexual assault investigations and explicit description of dead bodies mustn't read this book. This book is an amazing for strong hearted readers and those readers who like to read books of crime genre.
