East Wind by Jack Winnick uses his background in chemical, nuclear, thermodynamics, and electrochemical engineering to give the reader an authentic terrorist plot against the United States of America. The author uses Hezbollah as the antagonist in this spy thriller. The two protagonists are Uri, a special operative Mossad agent, similar to our Delta Force, who finds the first piece of information that will help Lara to get a handle on the terrorist. The second protagonist is Lara, an FBI agent that is a computer wizard and is the first to get a line on the terrorist activities. When the Hezbollah set off a nuclear fission bomb in Los Angeles Marina del Rey, our heroes had only five days to find and disarm the next bomb, ready to set off somewhere in the United States. This story has the FBI, Homeland Security, Israeli intelligence, and a whole host of others working together, and sometimes apart, from each other. There is a love interest, a traitor, and much more for the reader. The author is exceptionally adaptable to get the reader involved with the characters and make them believable.

The constructive view from this reader was the way the author used authentic language and translations. The Israeli have a word, Ekdikeo , that means vengeance in the old language. The Israeli will do Ekdikeo to Hezbollah if the United States of America meets its demands. The Israeli are more prepared to dish out Armageddon than anyone knows. This reader also liked how the author developed the love interest in the story. The reader felt as if the author was explaining a real-life relationship.

The only negative comment would be that the author explained radiation, fission, and how the nuclear bomb could be built by an engineer too many times. This reader would enjoy the book better if the author had only explained once or even twice how could make the device. Each time the author introduced a new character, he described it repeatedly. Though the author did add some extra details each time, this reader would have enjoyed the book more without the repeats.

Jack Winnick did an exceptional job writing and had excellent editors as I did not find any grammar errors and only one spelling error. This reader gives the book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.

This reader recommends this book to all who enjoy a good spy thriller with a twisted ending. Except for the second death scene, which could be harsh for some readers, this reader found the rest of them acceptable. The reader needs to be prepared for some foul language as it is necessary to make the character believable. The sex scenes give some minor details for a start, leave the imagination for some, and tastefully explain the rest.
