Fastglass by Tony Tiscareno is an action thriller with an inner twist of political revolution and super-advanced aeronautical development. This book is a gripping read of loyalty, love, and tragedy.

Power was waning in the hands of President Fulgencio Batista Zaldivar of Cuba. The next successor, Dr. Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz, had businessmen chewing their tobacco in fear and fleeing the country. The rise of Castro brought fear and deep wariness to Cuba and global world powers. John F. Kennedy deployed a poorly planned strategy to seize power. However, his failure leads to what is historically called “The Bay of Pigs.” Lance, son of a captain and co-pilot of Pan Am Airway, Martin Rio, continued his father’s aeronautical career. He was brilliant, sharp-tongued, and witty, which attracted the attention of the CIA through his best friend, Roger. He became one of their most trusted assets and the creator of the most sophisticated super-sonic kit planes. That earns him the nickname, Fastglass. Although he is not very lucky in love and life struggles, will he be a formidable asset against Castro and other bad eggs? Read up on this book to find out more.

Tony Tiscareno wrote from an Omniscient point of view, focusing on key characters, thereby eliminating what may come with multiple perspectives. My favorite quote from the book is, “Remember, the runway behind you is useless.” Meaning: stop looking at the past because it bears no gifts. Keep moving forward.

I love the relationship between Lance and Agent Ralston. Lance was like a petulant, erratic son, and Agent Ralston was the calm, strict, loving father. Their connection was very pure. There was this scenario where Prince Khalid was asking Lance for a favor, pleading, and commanding at the same time. I appreciate how the writer beautifully captured that entitled expression of people of power. I would advocate for a movie or series of this book; it’s TV-worthy. My favorite character was Agent Ralston. He was a parapet for Lance when the young man was erratic. He was a symbol of balance, and I loved his character. But something is intriguing about Lance I would love to draw out. Despite being hurt repeatedly, he was very open to love, which was captivating.

I was not too fond of some action scenes that didn’t seem to have a backstory. An example was when Roger, Sanders, and Lance traveled to Colombia and had a head-butt with Enrique Rojas and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). That scene was not explicit. Besides that, I enjoyed the book. The book contained several minor errors. However, it didn’t distract me from the flow of the story.

This story was more like a joy ride through the journey of history, which made it very relatable. Also, it was a delightful read. Base these reasons, I am rating the book 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend this book to historical, action, and thriller fans. Fastglass will have you biting your nails and rapidly turning the pages.

I have always loved everything that concerns aeronautics. In my opinion, this book is a well-constructed action thriller. This book involves the ordeals of Martin Rio who has taken over from his father. I know it would be a good read for me, and I'd recommend to other lovers of fiction. Thanks for your review.

I have long waited for a write up on Fidel Castro’s leadership of Cuba, his death and Cuba’s relationship with the US at the time. I can’t wait to check this out. Excellent review.

I loved all that disturbing avionics. From My perspective, this book is an overall fabricated action spine chiller. The book incorporates the preliminaries of Martin Rio who has taken over from his Dad. I understand it would be a respectable scrutinized for me, and I'd endorse it to various admirers of fiction. An obligation of appreciation is for your review.

A suspense thriller with historical connotations and some generational attitudes, by Lance and Ralston, will make for a very interesting read. Well done on your review!

Your review is very insightful. Unfortunately, action thrillers are not books I’ll usually pick up.
