Review of A Walk Through the Grapes
A Walk Through The Grapes, a novel written by David Jackson is a genre of crime, mystery and romance. Jace Grazer a young man in his twenties from Willowcreek needed to prove to his family that he had come of age and could survive on his own. When the opportunity came, armed with stolen funds, he took off to New York in the early hours of the morning. His return two years later reawakened the hopes and dreams his family and heartthrob had for him. During the reunion party something terrible happens that throws the family into fear and apprehension and everyone seems to be keeping something away from Jace. Was his coming back a mistake? Has his presence unleashed something sinister? His attempt to find out the truth would open doors that had been sealed, bringing about fear, anxiety, terror and death.
A Walk Through The Grapes is a book I thoroughly enjoyed. Jackson's main character Jace, is a true representation of today's youth their rumbustious nature and yearn for adventure. Their desire to get rich quick was well played by Jace. I love the fact his family welcomed him with open arms even after his betrayal, and stood by him in his time of need. Dane's intense brotherly love was expressed in his willingness to give up his freedom in order to save Jace. This gesture really touched my heart. The character Ally, showed a woman of great strength and a forgiving spirit. I also liked Jace's dad Robert, whose character even though seemed stern and forbidden, was very gentle with his wife Marie, and stood as a supportive figure for his entire family. His mother Marie's subtle and gentle nature, had a calming effect on the entire family. I love the fact that Jace never relented in trying to find out what truly transpired during the bonfire party. Jackson made his book more exciting and thrilling when he included the character Oliver. This was further enhanced by the the inconclusive nature of the book with regards to Oliver's disappearance. I eagerly look forward to a book two.
The only aspect of the book I disliked was the erotic scene that was to me way too lengthy. Other than that the book was superb. Its formatting and editing were excellent and there were no grammatical or typo errors. The book actually made me feel like I was watching an interesting movie full of suspense. For this reason I rate the book A Walk Through The Grapes 4 out of 4 stars.
I recommend the book for only young adults and mature readers because of its strong adult theme. This book is also suitable for those who enjoy reading books full of suspense and crime.
