Review of Money Faucet
Money faucet by Joe Calderwood, is a crime series that takes us through the life of clint Kennedy. He is a criminal selling drug to drug lords, therefore, making lots of money.
The book is about the life of clint Kennedy, who resides in Merida. He struggles with the guilt of finding Jessie Coulter dead in his office after coming from a Halloween party in his office.Throughout the book, the writer shows his character and how he associates with people around him. we are shown both the bad and good sides of the protagonist. we can see himself saying that, he is a good criminal because he owns his illegal livelihood on page 12. He is good in the sense that,he has built a school for the least Mayan neighbors by the name of this academy. While associating with people around him, we see him keeping a low profile in his work and nature. This is evident in the book whereby he says, "I am not a public figure and even so, keeping a low profile is part of my work and my nature."
Joe Calderwood also brings out the aspect of clint Kennedy being a man of the people. This is evident when he fights for the custodianship of Elmer Collier, he visits Abe Cohen in jail and prepares a wake party for Eddie just to mention a few.
The writer has shortened words throughout his book. For example," yeah,i s'pose that could be," he said pg.16.He has also used figurative language. For example, we were balloons and it was candace who held tenaciously onto the strings that kept us from floating off into the ether. The writer also gave clear illustrations that created a clear image of what was transpiring which is evident in pg 21. In the cubicle directly across the room, a teenager stood by her grandfather's bed and sang softly, again and over again, in a surprisingly sure alto, the old man's favorite hymn, "Be thou my vision,o lord of my heart...." pg 21
Joe Calderwood has built the characters in a very understandable manner. which is evident in that, he took the time to explain the behaviors, occupations, and their relation to the protagonist.
The plot of the book is not predictable. This makes the reader want to know what will unfold next. The writer uses dates to describe unfolding events so this makes the reader feel like the story is so real.
I loved how the book was organized into days of the month. For example, Friday, October 23, 2009. This made the storyline look so real to me. This, therefore, made me have a clear image of what was happening.
I also like how the writer brought out the characters. It was so educative and captivating. for example, the protagonist had both the negative and positive sides of people. This means that there is no part of the book that I disliked.
I assume this book has been professionally edited. This is on the account that I just found a few punctuation errors. Apart from this, Joe Calderwood did an impressive job!
I rate the money faucet a well-deserved rating of 4 out of 4. The book was educative and captivating. A very clear and vivid image of all characters in the book. I would recommend the book to anyone who loves crime series
