The Poison Profession is a thriller novel written by Rachel Wright. This book mainly focuses on Louisa Clayman who is a successful businesswoman running a security firm based in Solomon Islands and lives in London. Louisa has a hidden identity – Crail the assassin. Crail receives orders through the dark web so no one knows who is behind the screen. Her brothers, Tom and Jack also provide help with Crail’s work. They receive their payments in bitcoins, in fact Clayman Security and the other companies these siblings run are just to turn these bitcoins into money. Things were going well until she met Rikard, a gamer, one of the top players in Warpath. He is divorced and denied the right to visit his children. Louisa and Rikard have fallen for each other, although Louisa knows that it could be dangerous for Crail. Rikard’s friend Markus gets suspicious about Louisa as he finds her hideous tries to dig more about her. He also seeks help from his detective friend Phil. But little did they know that her brother Jack is a genius-level hacker, who helps Louisa not to be easily found. Louisa, along with Rikard, her brothers’ families, and Gina, her best friend go to Tikopia, an island owned by Clayman siblings and surprisingly hidden from the rest of the world, to have a vacation. The rest of the story tells about whether Markus found about Louisa what happens to Crail and so on.

I’m impressed with Wright’s style of storytelling. Each character has been given their own space, backstory, and importance. The assassination methods Crail undertakes are so fascinating, I wonder if there is any movie with such scenes. The book has so many elements in it like a thriller, romance, suspense; it is like a complete package of emotions. Wright has also broken a few stereotypes in the novel like an assassin who is a female, the female lead is a successful business person, and even though the Crail is an assassin, which is generally a bad person, Crail kills people who are poisonous to the society.

The only negative aspect I find in this novel is the typo errors. That kind of brings down the reading pace.

I give this book 3 out of 4 stars. The only reason I give this book 3 stars is the negative aspect. Only if they focused a bit on the edit, it would have been better.

I recommend this book to thriller-lovers, especially to those who like to read a fast-paced story. I would not suggest this book to teenagers because it has some erotic scenes.

I must admit, I raised my eyebrows when I read Louisa's hidden identity. That was a twist I wasn't expecting. This sounds like a thrilling, stereotype-breaking read. Thank you for your interesting review! :balloon:
