A. M. Adair debuts her writing in Shadow Game , the first novel in the Elle Anderson Series. From the get-go you are thrown into this vividly detailed world of being a woman in espionage. With a mission, a timeline, and plenty of danger to keep me holding my breath in anticipation from page to page. I can’t wait to see what A.M. Adair has in store for Elle next. This book, and Author will make it on my “to read list” anytime there is anything new published.

The only shortcoming, I can judge is the length of the book. I didn’t want to set it down, but at the same time I was also afraid of finishing it in one day. A little more love interest with Julian would have been appreciated too. This was excellently edited, and I could not find any errors.

I’m so happy that there are two more books to read about Elle, she is everything I want in a main character. I love her gumption, go get them attitude, and strength, but with a little bit of emotion so that she’s not a complete psychopath. She is strong willed, and ready to take on the world. The overall flow of the book is fantastic, and I look forward to reading more by A. M. Adair, as her writing is so enjoyable to read. A woman writing about women is so refreshing, as most male authors I follow write about women, but don’t fully grasp a woman’s’ thought process.

For all these reasons I will be rating this book a 4 out of 4 stars . With the authors attention to detail, from smells, tastes, feelings, and knowledge on military equipment, this was an all sensory and encompassing experience. I cannot wait for A. M. Adair to write more for this series, and others, for I will surely gobble them up at a voracious pace. I just followed her on Amazon to keep up with anything new that might be coming out.

This book would be ideal for just about everyone interested in mystery, murder, and espionage. The only warning would be for those sensitive with triggers involving torture and gory details. With only a very minor scene of intimacy, this could be considered a young adult novel as well, I know I would have enjoyed reading this in my teens. And could recommend this to my younger sisters without a thought.
