The sunny shores of Marina Del Ray shatter unexpectedly. One clear morning, a nuclear device explodes, leaving loss, destruction, and chaos in its path. Brought in to help, Mossad agent Uri has experience with Hezbollah. FBI Agent Lara Edmond teams up with Uri to bring the terrorists to justice. Lara is an FBI specialist in information technology. She has been following innocent-looking websites and college websites for some time. She finds interesting coded messages hidden in the websites. Then Lara and Uri are on their way to track down the bad guys in the middle east. As Lara and Uri are hot on the trail of terrorists, they start to develop a relationship. Uri is going through a divorce, and Lara is single and concentrating on her career with the FBI. East Wind by Jack Winnick is a fast-paced thriller with a touch of romance.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Mr. Winnick did a fabulous job with the characters. The characters were believable and true to life. He has incredible knowledge of the Middle East, and the politics he used were not offensive. I at first thought this book would be boring in the technical sense. I found it to keep me turning pages well into the night. I enjoyed the fact this type of thing could happen. The idea of terrorists using websites and or college homework media pages to send coded messages terrifies me a bit. East Wind made it sound so easy and believable.

The one thing I did not care for was the technical jargon. At times it would seem to go on forever. I had a hard time following it. I did not think it added much to the story. I felt this hindered the action of the book. It was still a great read and enjoyable.

I would rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars. It was exceptionally well-edited, and I found no mistakes. The story was engaging and fun. I can not wait to read more of Lara and Uri. I also want to see how the romance turns out.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a short thriller with a touch of romance. I did not find anything offensive in the book. I do not think there is anything that would rule out any group of people. If you are sensitive to middle eastern politics, this book may not be for you.
