Jack Winnick in his book Devil Among Us rolls up the curtains to uncover a story that reveals the behind-the-scenes planning of Muslim Terrorists across the Middle East to take over Israel and eliminate the Jews just as Hitler attempted in WWII. Jack Winnick displays remarkable insights and overwhelming knowledge of a complex plan hatched at the level of powerful US agencies and Mossad to counter the Arab plan and stop the destruction of the Jewish race at the same time maintaining a diplomatic posture that would make it seem like there was no US intervention or support to Israel by the USA. In-depth research by the Author opens up whole new socio-cultural aspects of both the Jews and the Arabs. An action-packed story of two agents from Mossad and CIA who join hands to foil terrorist plans. Jack Winnick demonstrates his knowledge of Strategic warfare and the latest in military equipment and fighter aircraft in comparison to Russian equipment supplied to the Arabs. Winnick also paints a vivid picture of the Arab and Iranian self-deceptive alliance, connivance, and treachery within. Naivety on Military Strategy is also glaringly visible in the major battle that ensues.

The book is indeed readable and some amazing historical facts come to light as the writer describes the Arab Israeli Socio-Cultural and Socio-Political facts. Hair-raising description of behind-the-scenes activities and planning of CIA, FBI, Mossad takes the reader on a journey around the globe revealing the giant spider’s web across continents that destroy large armies, create wars and exploit religious and cultural values towards their gains. The reader’s curiosity on what transpired during the previous Arab-Israeli wars is answered as the two agents globe-trot across the oceans to carry out their assignment.

On the face of it, the reader is thrilled and rather appalled by the episodes that explode in the pages but glimpses of James Bond, Salt, Mr.& Mrs.Smith, and other male and female spy characters in movies flash across the readers' mind making the narration sound far-fetched and exaggerated. Mention of the Quran, Hadith, and Muslim sects though fairly accurate seem superfluous and unwanted. It also reflects a degree of bias and subjectivity. Description of Arab rulers, Generals, and religious heads reflects a strong bias and attempted ridicule as seen by readers.

I would however rate the book 3 out of 4 stars as it engrosses the reader in the action and keeps him aware of the conspiracies, the atrocities, and amazing eye-openers. However, the book could have gained an extra point in rating but for grammatical and typo errors.

The book might raise controversies and result in a reaction especially amongst some communities worldwide. The book is recommended for adults interested in action and drama. Historians and Researchers on Middle East issues might want to go through the book to supplement their learning.
