Review by _hime -- Legacy by Chris Coppel
Legacy by Chris Coppel is a horror-thriller story of the Edmonds family and a witch named Beyath. Beyath, a sixteen-century witch, used to feed on one of her heirs to exist. This book is the story of saving Craig’s family from Beyath.
When a mysterious package arrived at their home at two in the morning, Craig couldn’t help worrying. Craig was concerned when he saw there was no delivery man. They opened the package and discovered that there was a mirror. Despite being worried about who sent the mirror to them, they couldn’t help but acknowledge the mirror’s fascinating work. So, they kept the mirror with them. But then odd things started to happen. Steeler, their dog, didn’t prefer to go around the mirror. Whenever the dog went around the mirror or saw the mirror, he acted strangely. However, this kind of behavior of Steeler did not seem suspicious to Craig. But since then, more and more unusual things had happened. One day, Craig found numerous creatures in their attic. Craig still didn’t take the incident so severely.
Even when a Native American elderly named Ahote came to his home and said so many supernatural tales, Craig didn’t bother to think about these issues. The man, however, left some doubts in Craig’s mind. But his suspicions became real when his wife, Jenny, mysteriously disappeared. Craig realized there might be some connection between Ahote and the mirror behind Jenny’s disappearance. So, he desperately ran to Ahote for help. But he did not realize that he was going to encounter so much threat. Why did Jenny disappear? How would Craig find her? Where did Ahote bring him? Craig got the answer to every question at the very end. So will you, if you read the book.
The author kept the mystery to the end of the story, and I appreciate this part the most. I felt that the mystery and excitement in the middle of the story had decreased and that I was a little disappointed. The author brought back the mystery again towards the end of the story, and my excitement came back. The story is so good that it’s hard to tell which one I love most. I also like that the author had beautifully illustrated all the details. He subtly represented the surrounding 25 years ago. The vital part was that he had nicely introduced the characters. Although each of the characters had a shorter period, the author highlighted their fundamental role throughout the story. He also highlighted Craig’s past.
I didn’t spot any negative aspects of the story. There were some vulgar expressions in the story, and there was some description of a terrible creature. So, I would not suggest the book to the children. However, I would recommend the book to any adult.
I am rating this book 4 out of 4 stars for its fantastic story. The book has many pleasant aspects. I didn’t find any wrong parts. That's why I gave the book four stars. The book seems to have been edited professionally. I found nothing wrong. I highly recommend this book to any adult. I liked the book, and I hope you will like it too.
