[Following is a volunteer review of "The Trafficking Murders" by Brian O'Hare.]

[rwc=id472341-125]4 out of 4 stars.[/rwc]Human trafficking. Have you ever wondered how someone gets into a situation where this happens to them? How does they react, what does they go through? Is it at all possible to get out of such a situation? Author Brian O’Hare in his book The Trafficking Murders describes to us the horrific things that trafficking victims go through. This very sensitive topic takes on a new dimension when Detective Sheehan and his team try to solve the mystery behind these troubling issues.

The mystery revolves around two police cases. The first to connect with Queen’s University and the Chinese community that spread across Belfast. Another related to human trafficking and which follows the story of the girl Alina Balaura who comes from Romania. Inspector Sheehan's team is working diligently on both cases, concluding that the two cases are linked. The book is accompanied by a great roller coaster of readers' feelings, because it goes through uncertainty, empathy, excitement as well as very disturbing scenes that happen.

I would rate the book with 4 out of 4 stars. What I liked the most was that the author shows the characteristics of the characters so that the reader is even able to identify with some of them. The characters are very well worked out and convey their feelings to us through what they went through. I can say that I enjoyed reading this book full of twists and turns. I must also draw attention to the fact that the author made a list of characters at the very beginning, so that if you ever get confused while reading, you will easily return to the road.

Another thing I enjoyed was that the author conveys things in a very dynamic way. Very difficult scenes are interspersed with chapters in which the police discover clues and do their job diligently. This way of writing is highly recommended with sensitive topics because readers do not focus only on bad emotion, which is inevitable. This book is also instructive, because I think we are not aware of what can be found and done in our environment and that we should always be careful.

I would recommend the book to older adolescents and older audience. It is very well edited and does not contain spelling mistakes. But if words like murder, rape, harassment, racism bother you, I would not recommend you to encounter such content because this book is not a light read. On the other hand, if you are in the mood for one crime mistery this book is certainly something you will enjoy.
