Review by Wekesa Namuyonga -- Soul Seeker
What if you lost everything you love and care about because of supernatural forces? Who would you tell? Would they believe you? This is exactly what happens to Benjamin Poe in Soul Seeker by Kaylin McFarren. When a fire ravaged the town's College Inn, Poe is worried for the safety of his son. Since he is a firefighter he’s part of the firefighting team that goes to the Inn.
He discovers his son is not among those who lost their lives. Poe is skeptical of Gabriel’s explanation but brushes his suspicions aside. However, a stranger named Crighton comes to town claiming to know what happened the day of the fire. Crighton not only knows people’s darkest secrets, but his unearthly green eyes frighten everyone. Poe tries his best to protect his family but ends up failing miserably by the end of part one.
Part two of Soul Seeker follows Crighton’s perspective after the events that occurred in part one. Crighton is tasked by Lucifer to capture an angel of high power. He succeeds and captures Ariel. However, they are captured by humans. Crighton and Ariel eventually manage to escape but not before discovering that they are soulmates. This section of the book focuses on Crighton’s romance with Ariel. It also focuses on him trying to redeem himself.
Soul Seeker is a very interesting book. The plot of the story is both original and alluring. It felt like I was reading two books in one. This is because the book is divided into two parts. Part one generally comes off more as a mystery and supernatural thriller. On the other hand, part two gives off more paranormal romance vibes.
I love the general flow of the story. The author used simple language and made the story interesting. The story has many plot twists that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Plus, there are a lot of suspenseful scenes in the book as well.
I will give Soul Seeker by Kaylin McFarren a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. The story is very captivating and wonderfully written. I also do not have anything negative to say about this book. I enjoyed reading and I did not come across any negative points to mention. I did not come across any errors while reading. Therefore, I can say that this book was professionally edited.
This book would be perfect for readers who enjoy books with elements of mystery. It would also be perfect for readers who enjoy paranormal romance books. I would not recommend this book to younger readers as it comes off like it’s meant for a more mature audience.
