Review by Andiswa 98 -- Shadow Game by A.M. Adair
A double twisted life is what you would define Elle’s life, in the eyes of her neighbors she is this spoilt rich girl that does nothing but live a luxurious life, has a fancy job of being a photographer, and does nothing but travel and enjoy life. But what people don’t know is that she is a secret agent of the infamous CIA. She heads out different missions, works in a male-dominated place and is forever surrounded by violence and danger. This time Elle is sent on a mission to Iraq, her mission is to dissolve and dismantle a terrorist group that has been recking havoc in the country. Elle being a strong-headed, ambitious, and not emotionally driven person (lol a first for us women) was the perfect person for this job, and so she meets up with her whole team to plan and execute their plan to save the country from these terrorists.
Shadow Game by A.M. Adair is the first of the three-part book collection following Elle’s journey in taking down that terrorist group. After reading this book I understood why I enjoy both watching and reading thriller themed artforms, this book was filled with captivating, exciting thrilling twists and turns one can expect in a thriller, one of those moments was when they captured Elle, how everything was done and the turn of events that led to the ending of the book. Another interesting event that took place was the self-discovery journey that Elle went through as she was embarking on this mission, it was such a bittersweet moment seeing her find herself and understanding what it meant being Elle.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 because it was a great book with no noticeable errors, proving that it was professionally edited. But what sparks and solidifies my rating is the fact that, given the history of Iraq and its cultural and religious conflict A.M. Adair did not take sides, she did not portray one religion as bad and the other one as worse and that is what makes her such a great author, being able to push forward your message without causing damage or putting blame on anyone is nothing short of professional.
There was nothing to hate about this book. I recommend it to everyone who is not easily offended.
I enjoyed reading this book, this book is violence driven, so, I would advise people who do not like violence, profanity, and erotic scenes to avoid this book as it is filled with those. If you love action-packed books and love female power this is the book for you.
