Review by Buddy maxx -- Void by Tayma Tameem
Ryan Gallager, his wife Sally, their four-year-old daughter, Jessica and one year old EJ make up the beautiful Gallager family. Ryan is a hard-working family man who makes sure all his family's financial needs are met, and ensures that his wife has a comfortable life. Sally is a stay-at-home mom and a clean freak, and she makes sure the kids are well taken care of. Sally has been fighting anxiety since giving she gave birth to EJ, a new condition for her since she didn't experience it with Jessica. With sleepless nights trying to get EJ to sleep, fatigue, maintaining her home and taking care of Jessica, she has a lot on her plate, and she's trying not to lose her mind.
Ryan lost his job, but he lacks the courage to tell his wife, since he fears that her knowing about his financial instability could collapse her already fragile mind. Despite all this, they invited friends and family for EJ's first birthday party. No one could imagine that such a beautiful day, could later turn cold and ugly. Later that night, Sally and Ryan couldn't believe it when they found EJ missing from his crib. They called 911, and Detective Banks was assigned the missing child's case. With no leads and no witnesses, will they find EJ? And when Jessica starts asking questions, how will they handle the situation without frustrating her?
Vanished: Void Series Book 1 is an exceptional crime thriller by Tayma Tameem, but it's not the kinda crime story involving guns or actions. It's a heartfelt story of the Gallager family that has to deal with the sudden disappearance of their one-year-old son. The book is deeply emotional, and the characters are relatable and realistic. In most occasions, I was able to put myself in their shoes and I felt like jumping into the book, giving them a hug, and telling them it's going to be alright. The book gives an insight on how it feels when a parent loses a child, as well as the kind of support you can offer such a parent. Love and support comes out strong through the Gallager family and their neighbors. No matter the financial condition, love and emotional support is a priority among the neighbors and Ryan's and Sally's parents.
My favorite character is Jessica. She's brave, smart and even if she's just four years old, she tries her best to understand her family's situation: or does she really understand? You can discover that in this amazing story. To me, She's not only one of the pillars holding her family together through the turmoil, but also the star that keeps shining no matter what, lighting up the darkest nights. I feel she is an inspiration to children and teens. Detective Banks portrays determination, admitting when he's wrong and leaves no stone unturned when conducting investigations. There are no instances of profanity, and I was amused by the author's sense of humor, although there are just a few instances.
The book is perfectly edited, and I'm happy to rate it 4 out 4 stars. I found nothing to dislike about the book, and I would recommend it to empathetic readers, anyone who has lost a family member, readers who have no idea how to help such families and finally, thriller enthusiasts. The book is suitable for readers of all ages. I must admit, the suspense at the end of the book is amazing, and I didn't see it coming. My heart skipped a beat, and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
