The Darkness At Decker Lake by Martin H. Zuckerman takes place in a small rural town in New York State along the Canadian border called Deckersburg. The residents that reside there are mainly retired senior citizens that wanted to retire in a secluded area where they can enjoy peace and quiet as well as enjoy the nature of the lake. Harvey is a member of the HOA and came up with a new con scheme that targets the elderly that are isolated with no family. Harvey's scheme goes horribly wrong once murder is involved and tangles himself up with the the wrong person.

I would rate this book a 3 out of 4 stars. The only reason why I'm not giving it 4 stars is because it didn't touch my soul and I didn't have a moment where I had to stop and stare at the wall for a few minutes in order to comprehend the events that just occurred.

I really enjoyed this book. The author has a beautiful writing style and was almost poetic at times. I would recommend paying close attention to the character's background stories that he goes over in the beginning of the book because they are crucial to the rest of the story. Anyone who loves thrillers will enjoy this book.

There is a very grotesque event that occurs towards the end, so if you're squeamish, this might not be the book for you. This particular event made me laugh out loud but at the same time made me want to hurl. Definitely my favorite part. The author does a fantastic job at describing every detail. My least favorite part of the book is the beginning because it starts out pretty slow, but definitely important to the story. I found it to be predictable at times, but definitely loved the ending.

There was only one curse word and only one typo in the whole book. No erotica at all. I would definitely recommend this book!
