Shifting Sands written by Barry Litherland Narrates the story of a strange occurrence of a naked man rambling someone’s name at 2 am close to a big house late at night observed by Winston who tells his friend Phil Tyler, a journalist. Phil intrigued and skeptical decides to investigate to see if there possibly is any truth to the story or if his friend had imagined the whole thing. As he looks closer in to the event, he finds that there seems to be a lot of details surrounding that night chief of which is a beautiful girl linked to one Westleigh Hall, a medical facility with secrets which they go to extreme costs to protect putting the lives of Phil and his friends all at risk.

This mystery thriller has a good well-structured storyline that is captivating and keeps the reader hooked and yearning for more. I liked the good sense of humor employed by the writer and the suspense which keeps you guessing and at the edge of your seat. Also, each chapter is between three to eight pages and makes for an easier and more satisfying read. These are the elements I liked the most.

There are a number of profane and vulgar words that the writer also used and I disliked the use of such strong language and found them unpleasant and not particularly necessary as they could have been substituted with more subtle vocabulary.

The book was very well edited and I did not observe typographical errors. This book has a lot of useful and relevant content and would appeal to readers mostly those who are within the age range of 18-40 and who love the mystery genre and doses of suspense as it is a real page-turner. I would not recommend the book to readers younger than 18 because of the strong language used which is rather inappropriate for their age group.

I would rate this book 3 out of 4 stars because I was a thoroughly enjoyable read, the characters are interesting and come to life vividly in my mind as I read and also the tension of danger feels very real and thrills even to the last chapter. The reason I have not rated this book 4 out of 4 stars is mainly because of the strong language used which I believe were much to the extreme words like bitch, bastard, dickhead, f****g and hell amongst others.
