Snow Country Lane was a satisfying, easy read. The author, Sarah Vail, holds your attention and keeps you trying to sort out the mystery from the first page to the last. The characters are introduced well and made very easy to relate to. By the 100th page you are knee deep in a police chase with life-long friends and jumping all over clues. I rate this book 3 stars out of 4. The main thing holding me back from offering 4 stars would be the mainstream-ness and predictability of the ending. Otherwise Snow Country Lane was a quick, fun book to settle into.

We start out taking a peak into the life and motivations of a low-level hired thief that provides young children to a large ring of corrupt public figures for more than one type of perversion. Our heroes and main characters are hot on the trail and are just as surprised as the readers to learn how far the long arm of corruption actually reaches. Tim McAndrews' career may be taking a rocky turn for the worse but that doesn't make him any less active in doing whatever it takes to bring justice to the children whose lives have been altered forever by some sick and wealthy individuals.

When you put together life long friends Kathy Hope, one of the best medical examiners to be had, and her husband-to-be Scott Renton, a Seattle PD detective, there is nothing this trio hasn't been able to handle. Tim has a hard time understanding just what kind of person could actually harm innocent children but nothing will stand in their way of finding out. If this isn't enough to have McAndrews on edge, his beautiful, rich, and resourceful new wife just knows she has married the one man that can move mountains. How does Tim Mcandrews salvage his career, rescue as many innocent lives as possible, live up to the light in his newly beloved's eyes, AND make it out alive? You'll just have to settle into this suspenseful mystery and find out!

My favorite part of this story would have to be the "best friend next door" characters and how easily I found myself standing with them in all the action. Miss Vail certainly has a way of bringing her readers to the front lines; giving just enough details to paint the picture in your head without dwelling and dragging things out. Halfway through the book I realized I had forgotten to keep my eyes pealed for errors due to the A plus editing. The only thing I personally wasn't partial to during the story was the predictability that settled in towards the last few chapters.

I would have to suggest this book(and future or previous stories in this series) to younger adults or people that enjoy the mystery and suspense associated with police work. I don't feel the context would be inappropriate for girls as young as 16 years of age and it could be a great starter story for getting our youth to understand that reading can be a fun, enjoyable thing as opposed to the "my teacher made me" attitude. All in all, this is not a book you will have to force your way thru-it's an enjoyable read.
