The Best People: A Tale of Trials and Errors by Marc Grossberg. I give this book a 4 out of 4 rating. I was impressed with this book. I liked diving into law and business. Pilar's power over others was impressive as was VJ's. Moran and Marshall's building power was entertaining. Finally, learning about a career in law was insightful and exciting.

I enjoyed the education that this book brought me. I learned about law, business, and felt impressed from the triumphs from the characters' hard work. I feel like I got a better idea of what it's like to be a lawyer and a businessman. However, I felt like the author spent too much time writing erotic development of the characters and filled in blank spaces with unnecessary detail. There were many descriptions that distracted from the story, such as profanity. Several times I had to reread paragraphs to understand grammar.

The book begins with four main characters: Paddy, Will, Pilar, and VJ. None of the characters know each other. Paddy is driven, but has a shameful or non-existent personal life. Will is more of a businessman and enjoys running his company. Paddy and Will create a law firm and a lot of law stories are shared. They grow in wealth and fame and are required to make difficult decisions. Pilar wants her life to be phenomenal, including a husband and a future for her daughter, but she comes from a background with few opportunities. VJ is a successful businessman with talent for reading business trends and people. Linda introduced to the story later in a tragic way.

The second part of the book includes a wrap up of many of the injustices created since the beginning. Paddy becomes very successful, but also receives a heavy consequence from his mistake. Pilar and VJ achieve their dreams, at the cost of their dignities. Marshall becomes successful like Paddy, but loses nearly everything from bad fortune. As a happy surprise, Linda defeats all odds, builds a legacy defying all her opponents, and sets Houston in a new direction. Linda is my favorite character.

I believe readers who enjoy erotic descriptions and stories about law, business, and justice would enjoy this book. I appreciated the book because of its educational value. Adults may choose to skim through the sensuous and boring parts. Children and readers who enjoy fantasy or horror would not like this book. There are strong obscenities. Some sections are humdrum.
