Lara and Uri are now a married couple living in Israel. Lara is still an FBI agent on leave, and the FBI can activate her anytime if needed. The couple is visiting Lara’s family in Ohio when they are called into action to help with another terrorist act. At a Beverly Hills shopping mall, over a hundred people get killed during an attack. The terrorists do not stop there. They breach the communication network and the satellites of the United States. As if that is not enough, the terrorist also gains access to the Federal Reserve and the Chase Manhattan Bank. The team is sure the terrorists are after the gold, but is that the only thing of value in those buildings?

Jack Winnick does not disappoint with The Date Farm: Lara and Uri. As with his other books in this series, he starts fast and deadly. He grabs the reader in the first few pages. Since Winnick writes about current events, it is interesting to read such a realistic plot. This book did not disappoint with the plot twist either. One was so unexpected and helped the story move in a different direction. The book is one of those books that is hard to put down. Winnick can write a realistic tale that has the couple solves the case but with the aid of others. Lara and Uri are not infallible and often need help.

I hope that many different types of readers would read this book. This story offers a little romance with the newlyweds, Lara and Uri. The author uses current events to help build his plot. It is also a political thriller that offers suspense and surprising twists. One of the things I enjoy about Winnick’s writing style is his descriptions. This sentence is describing Sheikh Zainal Abidin, one of the terrorists, “His eyes, dark and deeply set in his massive skull, gleamed with a ferocious cruelty.”

The Date Farm receives a 3 out of 4 rating. I want to stress that the three rating has noting to do with the story. I like the author's style. The story grabs the reader from the start. I can’t think of anything I did not like about this book. However, there are numerous grammatical errors. I gave the 3 rating for the grammatical errors only. This is a story worth trying to read.

The language in the book contains hell, which some readers may find strong. That one word is insignificant to have any negative effect on the quality of the story. The editing overuses hyphens. For example, steakhouse is spelled steak-house in the book. Along with the overused hyphens, there were a several other types of errors.
