East Wind is a tale of intrigue and suspense. It tells of the insidious nature of terrorism and the heroic efforts to combat it. Blending some recent history into his work of fiction author Jack Winnick creates an alarmingly sinister world.

Uri Levin is one of the Mossad’s most effective operatives. He is a man forced to face constant danger by the continuous threats menacing his home and his people. Newly discovered information now sends him from Tel Aviv to Washington where his new contact awaits.

FBI agent Lara Edmonds is a computer specialist with a particular talent for electronic surveillance. Her intelligence, ability, and competitive nature, combined with a knack for diplomacy, have rapidly advanced her career in the male dominated atmosphere of the Bureau.

Together, these intrepid agents must face one of the greatest threats ever unleashed on modern civilization. A sophisticated terrorist organization has inserted a cell somewhere in the United States. Political in-fighting and inter-agency power struggles only serve to impede the race to stop the fanatic enemy in time.

Jack Winnick sets a fast pace and keeps the suspense building right to the climax of East Wind. From exposing the inner workings of an extreme terrorist organization to exploring the intricacy of coordinating multiple levels of government security forces, this novel is very well researched and thoughtfully presented. It is sure to have conspiracy theorists asking if they are paranoid enough. The premise is so close to plausible reality it is chilling.

There is a lot to like about this novel. The story progresses at a fast pace keeping the suspense building throughout. Because the plot of East Wind is completely believable the readers' interest never wains. All aspects of the plot are well researched and the writing is top notch.

The only complaint I can think of is an apparent loose end. There is no indication if it may be picked up in the next book. It leaves the reader wondering.

I enjoyed reading this book and recommend it to fans of spy thrillers and suspense stories. If you’re a cloak and dagger fan East Wind will definitely appeal to you. A word of caution is required. This book does contain adult themes and depicts scenes of graphic violence. Parents should preview this book before allowing younger readers access to it. Jack Winnick writes an engaging tale with professional quality, earning East Wind four out of four stars.
