The last assassination by James E Doucette is a thriller that gives you insight into politics in a way that will astonish you. The novel begins with the drone flown by Jesse Plotnik that strikes at Mercy Hospital instead of its target. As a result, Jesse and his supervisor were about to be held responsible for it in an investigation set up by the US government. Jesse’s Father, Mark Plotnik, also a former Mossad agent, is the only one who has all the right connections. He knows; Coryell Electronics who made that drone, Madam Secretary, Amanda who has the power, and the assassin who killed the terrorist that blew up the mercy hospital. So, will Mark return to his former life and be able to connect the dots and untangle this whole mess?

This is a fast-paced thriller that does not waste the reader’s time with any extra details or descriptions. The story is right on point. The plot of this novel is strong and well built, which provides the right justification for what's happening in the novel. It is an interesting novel with no dull moment to bore the reader, and they will find it hard to put the book down till its last page.

Furthermore, it will let the reader familiarize with backroom politics, which one rarely read or knows about. Hidden agendas and betrayals are the heart of this book. Politics is all about power and dirty games, and this book makes sure of it.

The last assassination also shed some light on the struggle of Kurds. And the novel makes sure that readers understand their plight. It also reveals the contrasting nature of the government of the USA, Russia, China, Israel, and Saudi Arabia.

The drawback of this novel was that it has used a few abbreviations. Although the abbreviated word’s full form was mentioned earlier, it was still hard to realize at first which word did it represent. Second, the novel is fast so that the reader has to keep up it. It gives a little description of places or the person to whom it is referring to.

I will rate this novel four out of four-star. I will not rate it three or two-star because it is a well written fast-paced thriller that the reader will enjoy reading it. The plot makes sense, and the suspense that it builds up is good. I will recommend my friends to read it.
