An old man’s body is found in a car park with a fatal stab wound. A day later, a woman’s brutally mutilated body is found by the side of a country road. Unrelated murders according to Pickham County’s, politically motivated, Sheriff Klineman.

Deputy George Mackey is not so sure. For him, they bear the markings of being the work of the same killer. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation agrees and requests that Mackey works alongside Agents Shaklee and Price, to hunt down the killer before he strikes again.

A young woman, Lyn, flees an abusive home with the hope of escaping to Canada. Hitchhiking her way she meets Cy and Clay, two brothers who give her a lift to a truck stop and leave her there to find her next ride. But Clay can’t get the vulnerable young woman out of his head and goes back to find her.

Will Lyn become the next victim of the predator? The hunt is on to find him, but who will find him first?

I did not really enjoy reading The Eyes of a Predator by Glenn Trust. I would have stopped reading after the 4th chapter if I had not been reading it for review purposes.

It was very slow to start and didn’t really pick up the pace until the last couple of chapters, which did at least lead to a satisfying conclusion tying up loose ends. The plot was thin and staid with little left to the imagination. It was too predictable, with the rather overused formula of the rogue cop and his politically motivated boss. As it was no mystery as to who the killer was, I expected some tension or suspense along the way but was sorely disappointed.

I did not like the writing style; there was too much, often repetitive descriptive text which made the book too long and drawn out. It was also lacking in dialogue for my taste. I did not connect with any of the characters, all of which were rather two dimensional and easily forgettable, and with the exception of the brothers, not particularly likeable.

For these reasons, I rate this book one out of four stars. I would have rated it 1.5 if possible, as it was not that bad, but just not interesting enough for a 2.

I would not recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fast paced, action packed mystery/thriller. It does contain some graphic scenes of mutilation and violence, so it would be unsuitable for a younger audience.

The book was fairly well edited, and I only noticed a few grammatical errors however the repetition should have been weeded out.

It doesn't sound like you enjoyed this book at all. While the description sounds interesting, the fact that it is slow and predictable doesn't appeal at all. Thank you for your review.
