Gringo: My Life on the Edge as an International Fugitive, by Dan "Tito" Davis, provides a first-hand account of his life on the run. The memoir begins with a brief introduction to Dan and his early moneymaking businesses, including making White Crosses for college campuses. We then follow him around the world as he attempts to escape capture.

The book is raw and honest. Tito writes openly and honestly about mistakes he had made and how he was set up by his best friend. At times, I wanted to shake him and ask him to come to his senses. He was a drug dealer, first and foremost, but he was also crazy in love with a woman who does not seem to totally reciprocate his feelings.

Dan was on the run from the United States Government for thirteen years before being captured and incarcerated. It was during this incarceration that he penned his memoir. You will get a true glimpse inside the life of a man on the run, not a wealthy drug lord living it up in his large mansions with woman falling at his feet. You will encounter vivid descriptions of drugs and sex and betrayal.

This is not the typical book that I enjoy reading but I am glad that I picked it up. It is a page turner that is hard to put down. I read Tito's story with my heart pounding in my chest just waiting for him to be caught on every page. If you enjoy heart-racing, action packed stories, you will not be sorry for picking up this book. I would give this book a 4 out of 4.
