THE INTERLOPER by Dave Zelsterman is a fast- paced action thriller. The story takes us on a rollercoaster ride as we read through the pages. The twists and turns in the story is mind blowing and it definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat. The story follows Willis a former military person as he takes on his new job.
Willis is finding it difficult to find himself a job after a successful stint in the sales department. But soon enough, he is offered a job by a new government department named Homeland Security, or The Factory. He is assigned to kill "insurgents" who posed a threat to his nation. After several successful assignments, he decides to run a thorough background check about his latest target, which was very much against the rules of the organisation. On doing so, he learns a very serious truth due to which he finds it against his moral to continue working and killing targets for the organisation.
Since he knows the secret of the organisation, he is on the run as the organisation has assigned him as a target to several hitmen. In this rat and mouse chase Willis has to find a way to survive and keep himself safe from the hitmen.
The story is very exciting and thrilling. The writer has done a brilliant job by crafting such a brilliant plot and creating a protagonist who is relatable. I liked the character of Willis a lot because he seem to have a strong moral conduct because when he learns the truth behind the assassinations, he decides not to work for them anymore. This just shows how as human we all are tricked into stuffs that we would rather not do but it depends upon us to continue doing it or not once we've learnt the truth. The protagonist fits in perfectly into the plot.
The book has shown crimes in multiple manners starting from murder to art heists. This aspect of the book makes it even more exciting as we don't know what to expect next. I would strongly suggest you not to makes too many guesses because they will all turn out to be wrong. In a crime-thriller it is always exciting to watch the protagonist fall in trouble because that is when he is at his best and in this story Willis is definitely at his best while he is on the run. I'll definitely rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.
I didn't find any error in the book just like I didn't find anything to dislike in it. I'll suggest this book to teenagers and also young adults. Fans of crime-thrillers should definitely read this book.
