Sounds appealing to me. Al tries to set his course straight at present by doing more good but his dark past is used against him to do bad. I'd like to see how he tries to escape this blackmail. Thank you for your review!

I find in this book a nice crime fiction story,in which two childhood friends Al Roth and Jake Gertner after completion of service in military both of them choose opposite kind of future career compared to one another. One becomes a judge in a court and another as mafia. Later both of them face black mailing due to their friendship and choosing the opposite careers.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

Great review. This sounds like an exciting crime thriller with twists and turns, blackmail, mobsters, and characters willing to do anything to get what they want, as well as a bit of humor it seems like a real winner. Thanks so much for sharing.

I am quite sure that this story would make more sense if I were to read the first in the series. I'm not keen on picking up stories halfway through, even though you do remark that this could be a stand-alone book. What I see sounds great, tho, and I would definitely like to give this series a bash. Thank you for your review.

Thank you for your interesting review. I like crime dramas and thrillers. This book sounds especially interesting since the characters are portrayed believably. No person is all good or all evil. Even the most honest person has a secret underneath.

Two army buddies go on seperate ways. Sounds like it could be nice, but I am not into books with army and mobsters.

Crime novels are not usually my cup of tea, but I am willing to explore them to see if they have something that will hold my attention. A story of childhood friends, realistic dialog, entertaining court procedures, well organized, and suspenseful sounds promising. The sample did not draw me into the story. A book where it is difficult to say there is a good person in the tale is unusual and somewhat intriguing. However, as the plot involves the mafia and extreme violence this is not a book for me. Thanks for the nicely written review.

Great review. A beautiful crime thriller is just my kind of book and this seems like a very good one. I'll definitely read it and find out how Al executes his plan.

I simply have no interest in crime fiction so this book is not my thing but i hope it would be interesting for crime and thriller fans.

Blackmail has a huge scope in writing a novel. The effects it has on the people who do it and the victims alike. I think this novel gives an insight into such scenarios.
