The Watchmaker’s Doctor by G. M. T. Schuilling depicts the lives of so many people in the world today, and how the choices we make in our early years can have a grave effect on how we can eventually end up, whether good or bad.
Anaya was a doctor in her late 30’s when she met a patient Gregory, who was a patient at St. Jude’s retirement home. Anaya suffered from multiple personality disorder right from her teen years, and this condition hindered her from living the kind of life she dreamed of. She always wished she made better choices as a teenager and a young adult, but she never imagined that wish would come to pass. Gregory had been Anaya’s patient for quite some time and the two had become close. The mystery began when gregory handed her a somewhat ordinary wristwatch as gift. Anaya never thought much of it until she was involved in a gastly motor accident which claimed her life. Before Anaya drew her last breath, she watched the hands of the watch spin backwards and suddenly, she found herself in the moment gregory handed her the watch.
I really enjoyed reading this book beacuse it really explained in details how a typical teenager would make decisions without thinking about the consequences that may result from thise descisions. The author really came down to the level of every typical teenager who can be less concerened about what the future may hold. I could really relate to the struggles of Anaya, when she was trying to fight her multiple personality disorder and take the steps she needed to take even when she was extremely frightened even by the thought of doing that.
This book, i feel is perfect mostly for the young teenagers who are struggling to make tough descisions as they grow. It felt more like a guide to help teenagers with challenging theirselves when it came to facing their fears, no matter how difficult it may seem. We may never get that chance to go back in time to undo our mistakes and ser things straight, but with this book, one can imagine what the future can be like when we make some descisions.
I would rate this book a 3 out of 4 because the book was well edited. I could rarely find any typpographical or grammatical errors while reading the book. I also lobe how the book kept me with the question ‘would you go back in time to change any descisions you made?’ and also the question ‘Why did Gregory really give Anaya that wristwatch and not someone else?’.
