Overall, I find the book to be an engaging, intriguing look into our society from a different perspective. It deals with some very real issues facing our society today, as well as a look into a society unlike our own. It deals with a heavy topic that most don't want to acknowledge, and a glimpse into 'what if' that draws you in, hooks you, and doesn't let you go.

The main topic, the underlying theme tying it all together, is Cadmium poisoning. It's a very real threat that faces everyone due to how we live in this country, and the author covers it in depth. Not only how to recognize it, but how to treat it, and how it got to be this bad. And after having read just a few of the notes at the end of every chapter about it, I can agree that clearly, something has to be done about it. If only on an individual level.

The book also covers a terrifying 'what if' scenario that I hope never comes to pass. It's chilling in that I can see it happening all too soon, with the way the world currently is. Something that makes even the worst examples of our darker moments look tame by comparison.

But what really kept me in the book is the glimpses of a society unlike our own. The way they dealt with similar problems to ours, the way their philosophy evolved due to the difference in our environments. How their culture and difference in clan structure meant they were organized, really intrigued me. I myself am a practicing writer, and I might use some of those ideas in a story I'm currently kicking around.

There were a few errors that I could spot, mostly with quotation marks in some particularly long segments of talking, or just misplaced or missing ones. Not too many that I could spot, but then again, I don't speak Spanish fluently. So I wouldn't know if any of the Spanish used in this book was conjugated incorrectly or misspelled. However, due to the overwhelmingly low amount of errors, I'm inclined to trust the writer.

Overall, I give the book a 3 out of 4. It's not perfect, but I still find it a good read. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to both be entertained and learn about a very real issue that we should all be talking about.
