The truth is at first I had my doubts about this book, maybe because I judged it by its cover. But I gave it a chance and I think it was the best thing I could do. Because Searching for Zen takes your imagination to something beyond possible. Even when at first I thought I was reading something for an age lower than mine, as the reading progressed, I realized it was actually on purpose.

The following chapters made it clear to me that you don't need to be a certain age to enjoy this kind of thing. Plus of course, it touches on important topics in a structured way without being so descriptive but still easy to understand what it's about.

Some scenes made me want to read more and more, leading me to increase the speed just to know what would happen in the next chapter. Probably thanks to the characters, which once again are quite good in terms of personality. Although in this aspect I don't know how well written they are. I think that in some opportunities there were descriptions where they weren't necessary while in others that were required, they were missing. Although it should be noted that this did not prevent the reading from being understood because in fact -even with that- it was fast paced and easy to understand.

Related to that I would also like to add that I liked that the found family is even in the most unexpected places. It is one of my favorite troops and the author personified it very well in that sense. Also, he makes it clear that you don't have to be one way or another to fit in certain places.

The protagonist is like any main character in science fiction books, where they are the chosen ones to save or destroy the world. And the truth is, I think Zen carried out his task quite well, not only because of his own abilities but also thanks to the intervention of the loved ones I mentioned in the previous paragraph.

The only criticism I see is the fact that on some occasions I find that it is written/described all at once and it can maybe be too much for the reader. But beyond that, I think it is a good book, with an interesting and bearable story that makes you imagine impossible things. And besides, the fact that it touches on important issues without cover-ups but in a gentle way makes it even better.

I rate this book a solid 4 out of 5.
