A Kingdom Forgotten is a very exciting adventure which includes magicians, castles, dragons, modern day scenes, modern day special forces from the future. If you are curious now, then you will definitely not be disappointed. There are numerous characters in this involved story which travels from many different ages to three different planets.
This is an and end of times story which starts in ancient times with the main character Damon doing something to start a process for what he wants to accomplish in the distant future. He is patient. The mystery is not revealed until the end where it comes to breathtaking crescendo. It is so intriguing to watch him slip in and out of the story interacting with the other characters to further his agenda. There are just too many participants in this story to describe individually. They each have their own numerous adventures which keep you wondering what is going to happen next.
Each individual person in the story seems so very real and developed so well as to be remembered vividly after the book is finished. There is Radin who starts out as a young lad helping his father at a small Inn in the distant past. He then meets very attractive and mysterious woman named Elise. She takes him on the adventure of a lifetime which eventually enables him to become a powerful magician. There are many more interesting adventures which take place to keep you on the edge of your seat. Too many to describe.
I would like to sum up this book as not an easy read. It took me longer to get through than usual. With all of the characters and different agendas in different times and on the three planets, It was a little difficult to keep it straight. The story was so exciting that I still had a hard time putting it down. I am going to read it again to make sure that I got the whole story. The end was such and amazing experience that I would like to live it again. Loved this book.
Though not recommended for the casual reader. This book is well worth it for the more serious reader. Charles McDonald is a consummate writer. His people are very real and captivating. The writing, so exciting, keeps you interested until the end. Am looking forward to future episodes in this series. I am hard pressed to come up with something that I did not like about this book. Maybe a little more character development.
I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. Enjoyed it immensely.
