I would give the book Break: An Urban Hero’s Journey a rating of two out of five stars. For starters, when reading the description of this book it seemed like it would have an amazing plot line, and it did, but it could have been better. More character and situational development and a more in-depth climax in the first chapter alone could have made the first chapter a whole book on its own. Unfortunately due to poor execution, it was kind of hard to follow and at times seemed all over the place with not a single thought. The author also liked to re-introduce the characters and their backgrounds in some chapters but they did not in every chapter, so consistency in what they do each chapter would greatly improve this book. I do not know if the author got an editor for this book, but if they did they need to get a different one. The grammar is atrocious throughout the entire book. Whether it is using semicolons instead of periods or commas where not needed, it was a really difficult read due to grammatical errors alone. When you also take into account the immense number of typos the book contained that made the words have different meanings, the story gets harder and harder to follow. There are also issues in scenes where dialogue is involved, making it difficult to tell who is talking when to what person. The places could also have been described in much greater detail in order to paint a clearer picture of where they are and what they are doing. More description overall would have been appreciated. I do believe that this book has a great deal of potential and once the typos, grammar, and development are fixed, it could truly be a favorite of mine and countless others.
