Review of Exodus
Earth has witnessed the rise of races of people. It bore witness to memorable historical events. Dynasties arose. Revolutions sparked. Kingdoms fell. Citizens revolted. Technological advancements led to the moon landing and the International Space Station. The future of the human race looked promising, with great anticipation for what the future holds. However, a rogue object was heading towards Earth unbeknownst to most people. Will the rogue object result in the end of life on Earth?
Jean Hackensmith and Joseph McDowell authored Exodus, an apocalyptic science fiction novel about a physicist, Garett Long, who is in a rush against time. He must work with a group of scientists to achieve the noble goal of saving humanity. Despite the book being science fiction, It did have other themes that played along with the story. Themes include romance, as the book explores various romantic relations within the novel.
The philosophical theme raises questions about the morals and values upheld when facing a life-extinction event, which can be a debate topic amongst readers. This presents a chance to make deductions about various characters' personalities and decisions. The book had an enticing narration style that incorporated different fonts.
The book's chapters felt like date entries in a journal, which documented the events that unfolded from a third point of view perspective. The book provides descriptive scenes that are enticing and thrilling. I couldn't stop reading the novel due to the suspenseful nature of the story's plot. In addition, I appreciated that the story was not stale but added intriguing subplots that added flavor to the story.
The book made few attempts at making humor, which is commendable owing to the story's plot. I appreciate the authors' efforts in creating characters with diverse personalities, which made the story appealing. Another positive aspect of the novel is how mankind came together amid a crisis. All forms of discrimination are thrown out the window as groups of diverse individuals work towards one main objective. The book had a few grammatical errors, mostly typos. It does contain vulgar words and a few mild erotic scenes. There were no plot holes, which portrays the overall excellence of the story.
Therefore, I would like to rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. This book is truly remarkable. What I loved most were the descriptive scenes and the narration style. I was displeased with the few errors, but the authors compensated with an excellent narration and a solid plot. I look forward to reading the sequel to this novel. I recommend this novel to fans of science fiction. If you have a niche for apocalyptic tales, then this suits you. I do not recommend this novel if you dislike science fiction novels.
