This book was an interesting read. It was a slow beginning, but once it had your attention, you would be hooked. I almost immediately loved the character Lily. Within her first few chapters, I was really interested in how her character would develop in the story. For Jasper, I felt the same.

The author uses multiple perspectives, but has them all written in first person. Sometimes it is difficult to remember whose perspective you are reading from. In one case, I went from reading Jasper's perspective to reading Liam's and it took me a moment to remember who was now speaking. In other cases, some chapters are so short to one character that I wondered if it was relevant.

The world the author created was quite unique. Some fae folk, fairy's, humans, other mythical creatures and eventually elves- I am very interested to see how the series progresses.

It is not a stand alone book. The story does not complete within this novel. It is definitely the first in a series and does a lot of building for the future book(s). That being said, I really enjoyed this and will be looking forward to the next in the series.

This book has the appropriate trigger warnings for suicidal ideation and domestic violence. Several chapters handle these topics, and it's not for individuals who struggle with such thoughts or are triggered by domestic violence situations. I thought the author handled these topics in both a respectful and realistic way. The victims thoughts and behaviors aligned with what they were experiencing and were accurate depictions.
