Ekta R. Garg is really an exceptional writer. The book's word structure was perfect and the suspense kept me engrossed throughout my entire reading experience. No kidding.

I felt the grief of a king who just lost a beloved queen and child in childbirth—a monarch who struggled with self-confidence, and now the only person who genuinely believed in him is gone and he feels he has no reason to live. It was simply heartbreaking. I also felt the pain of a healer who, despite her best efforts, could not save the queen only to be faced with a revoking of her license, leaving her no clear expectation of what the future holds, and a boy of few words who has often been bullied and misunderstood, who feels a love for the woods that is unmatched, his grief when the woods began to fail and lose their magic, and I simply loved the adventure as the king and his companions embarked on a journey to save the woodkeeper's heart and, in so doing, restore the magic of the failing trees of Linden. I kind of feel sorry for the wood keeper who, after having her heart broken, decided to discard it and live without a heart. Inasmuch as she can never be hurt ever again, she also lost the ability to love or feel deeply, robbing her of the joy of being happy, and I so despised the wicked king Vincent, who went about causing hurt and heartache to his people and ended up leaving his son with self-doubt and a lack of confidence, characteristics that a future king should never possess.

I love how the author made each character unique and special.

The book was definitely filled with suspense and anticipation; my only criticism was the fact that the term “page” was used to describe a female servant instead of "maid." I was a bit confused till I figured it out; the pages are young male servants, not female, but overall, I give it a 5-star rating because the book is simply a masterpiece. Keep it up, Ekta.
