Review of Obsidian Tomorrow
Obsidian Tomorrow: The Storm is a supernatural mystery thriller by Chad Wannamaker that instantly captivates readers. The author adeptly weaves together elements of mystery and intrigue, thereby attracting a diverse audience. Wannamaker skillfully establishes and maintains a dark and unsettling atmosphere, which is well-suited to the narrative's themes of mysterious abductions and sinister plots, ensuring that readers remain in suspense until the conclusion.
In my opinion, the parallels between the storyline and the author's writing style are particularly noteworthy. The narrative unfolds at a deliberate pace, particularly in sections that pertain to the enigmatic setting where significant events transpire. This measured progression effectively conveys the sense of frustration experienced by the characters, as both they and the readers grapple with uncertainty and a lack of understanding regarding the unfolding events. In contrast, only the Nephilims, akin to the author, possess comprehensive knowledge of the situation, gradually revealing information to the audience. The prose is both captivating and fluid, facilitating a deep immersion into the narrative. The book has undergone professional editing, and the quality of writing is commendable. However, I did identify a potential error on page 8, line 11 (kindle version), where the phrase "His vast physical structure is magnified by his confident personality" employs the present tense for "is," rather than the past tense. Overall, it is evident that Wannamaker excels in creating suspense, maintaining reader anticipation throughout the narrative.
The characters are well-developed and relatable, each characterized by distinct backgrounds and motivations. Readers are likely to become emotionally invested in their challenges and victories, as they are depicted as ordinary individuals rather than archetypal heroes or villains. The frequent use of profanity in moments of frustration and anger throughout the text may further enhance the authenticity of their portrayals.
As previously noted, the primary drawback of "Obsidian Tomorrow" lies in its slow initial progression. However, this is mitigated by the sudden and transformative events that occur in the latter portions of the story, which accelerate the narrative pace.
In conclusion, I would assign a rating of 4 out of 5 to this book for its engaging narrative that facilitates complete immersion. I eagerly anticipate the continuation of the story.
