In ‘The Witch's Garden’ by William Lyon, William tells the fictional tale of Professor Richard and his strange relationship with a symbiotic virus he had gotten from one of his expeditions. The book begins with Richard's recurring disturbing dreams about a strange woman and how he had tried to explain this to his psychiatrist to seek answers and meanings to the dream. As Richard begins to interact with this strange woman in his dream, he discovers much more about this supposed "dream" he often had. Are you curious to know what happens to Richard after he discovers he has been experiencing much more than a dream? Then grab a copy of this book to find out.

Over time, it was discovered that Richard was indeed dealing with a symbiont that lives in the mind of the person infected. In the case of Professor Richard, this symbiont assumes the form of a lady named Carol that he used to have a crush on back in high school. I liked how the story of the book was arranged from the initial pages to the end; it made the story suspense-filled and interesting to follow.

Probably because Richard was a botanist, the author explains most of the biological terms and plants in detail, adding a touch of realism to the story. Richard had been divorced and was trying to move on from his divorce before the whole encounter. I couldn't find anything to dislike about this book because it was well-written and I did not see any grammatical errors as I read through. Hence, this book was exceptionally edited.

Because this book contains sexual scenes in great detail, it may not appeal to some readers. Also, readers of younger ages are not advised to read this book because of its sexually provocative content. However, I will rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because, although it has a specific audience and may offend some, the story was well written. Lastly, I recommend this book to readers of mature ages who enjoy fictional novels that involve science and also love to read about biological concepts. Readers who also enjoy concepts that can be likened to paranormal activities will find this book interesting to read.
