Review of A Kingdom Forgotten
5 out of 5 stars.
‘A Kingdom Forgotten’ written and authored by Charles W. McDonald Jr., is an enthralling piece of fiction that could be best categorized under fantasy, science-fiction, mystery, and adventurous genres. The theme focuses on the mysterious kingdom known as Eldoria which seems to be overshadowed by Damon, a character shrouded in mystery who is consumed with a desire for revenge and power. Damon, who constantly switches between the land of light and the realm of darkness, plots a complicated scheme to change the course of existence. It is set in the kingdom where the protagonist Michael is a king who has to face war; the second protagonist Elise, who is sorted by prophecy gets involved in the play of Damon. One can only praise McDonald’s work on constructing the world – it is great, and these realms separated are quite suitable for mythical creatures and revolutionary technological advancements. Multiple voices and plots make the insured difficult and force the readers to be attentive since the narrative creates anticipation and mystery. These aspects of power are deeply woven into Damon’s narrative, which explores morality and the human experience in addition to imbuing readers with a sense of the absolute responsibilities that come with wielding authority. The numerous layers of background and oriental motifs, as well as combining magic and technology make the story rather interesting and, to some extent, convincing. The book encapsulates the reader’s experience in the “Throne of Souls” series and once you begin reading, you start looking forward to the next adventure. For this reason, I can without any doubt, this book deserves a solid 5-star rating because of its tremendous cast of characters, complex storyline, and creative universe.
The multiplicity of narrative arcs, non-linear progression, and multiple storyline intersections are elements that require the readers to work to understand the novel as a whole. This entwining of the action enhances the suspense and intrigue and the whole makes for a coherent and strong dramatic narrative.
However, it can be said that even though “A Kingdom Forgotten” is a great read, some readers may have difficulties following some details of its fascinating plot and the switching of timescales. Its richness may be experienced as onerous at times due to its contentious sensibility to being occupied. However, a lot of described details and references to the world of the series might be considered too intricate and, despite the fine system, overemphasized at times. However, these aspects do not take anything away from appreciating the book deserves a 5-star rating.
The book is well written and the editing of the book is superb without any errors. Overall, the book deserves a 5-star rating.
In conclusion, in “A Kingdom Forgotten,” McDonald examines concepts of fate, choice, and reiteration of historical generations. The choices that Damon is facing, both moral and existential, help readers to consider the nature of power and its impact. This volume is an excellent beginning to the “Throne of Souls” series and will have readers waiting for the next book. The fact that the characters are well-developed, the plot is complex, and the world itself is thought-provoking, this book deserves a 5-star rating.
