Charles W. McDonald Jr. creates a beautiful tapestry in "A Kingdom Forgotten." He skillfully blends fantasy stories of war, magic, and prophecy with masterful fusion. The book is the first in the "A Throne of Souls" series. It is a literary masterpiece. It takes us on a captivating journey into a world of ancient magic and modern technology.

The story follows Damon the Banished. He has immense magical power. His life is driven by the ambition to avenge the death of his beloved first wife, Dallia.

The character's development is also impressive. Each character's journey is carefully created. Ranging from Damon's mysterious darkness to Radin's journey of self-discovery and empowerment. The supporting characters, like Royvan and Illirian, each have their own distinct viewpoints and reasons, adding complexity to the story.

McDonald's exceptional skill in creating immersive worlds is truly impressive. Each location is described well. This includes the Halls of Aaramus and the majestic mountain peaks and virgin wilderness of the Valley of Power, which are richly detailed and vividly brought to life. The book, carefully crafted and rigorously edited, has no grammatical flaws.

The novel is excellent at examining universal themes. These include power, morality, and lasting human resilience. McDonald explores these themes well. He gives detailed representations of his characters' challenges and victories. Damon and Radin face moral uncertainties and ethical conflicts. These challenges enhance the narrative. It's a deep look at human nature and fate rather than just a fantasy story.

Overall, the book "A Kingdom Forgotten" is exceptional; it mixes science fiction and fantasy. Its plot is engaging. Its themes are thought-provoking. Its character development is good. These factors make it worth five out of five stars, without any negative points.

I recommend this book to readers who like epic fantasy. They enjoy immersive book worlds with intricate histories and magical elements.
