"Unlike swords during the latter part of the battle, they wielded only one mug each." This book promised a captivating story with some comedy and it definitely delivered. I found myself chuckling with the characters in a way I couldn't imagine. I'm no soldier nor swordsman but in the beginning I was skeptical having read quite a few books from this time frame, how could there be comedy in battle? I was happily wrong. This book is hilarious. It holds itself to a very high standard and boy did it perform.
The vivid descriptions made me feel like I was weary from many days travelled, cold from trekking through high snow and elated from a hard battle won or sad with a devastating battle lost. With regular updates in the midst of battle my suspicions were confirmed a lot of the time. I loved that the two main characters were Freelance Freedom Fighters, they were a perfected version of the Robin Hood type.
The story was one I will read many times and probably still catch things I have missed in the first, second or third time reading this book. Giving heart and feeling to war and the many perspectives involved, you get to see the truly awfulness of some people and the greatness of others. But either way I can tell you 100% this book is bound to catch you off guard.
I gave this book a 4 out of 4 . Nicholas Wudtake did a heroic job giving a new perspective to a tale for the ages in Parabolic, Magnetic Key. I couldn't find one thing not perfect in the book aside from a couple spelling mistakes. I truly loved the story, the characters were beautifully written and it made me want to immediately start the next book; Blunt but imminently Fatal Projectile. His 2 boys, I imagine, are so proud of him, wherever they may be. Thank you for a tale I will surely tell others about.
